Curved Cornerstones 76, 77, 78, 79, 80 from Virtual Quilter

The designs I am showing today remind me of the square dance we learned at primary school. Unfortunately I cannot remember the steps, just the fact that we did them for a few weeks.

The design above looks a bit like an aeroplane coming towards me!

Now I can see some fire crackers being set off!

Playing with colour in these designs would be a lot of fun, pity I have a busy schedule over the next few weeks, so I won’t have time to play.

I like all these designs, but saved the best till last.

That is ...

Curved Cornerstones + 116, 117, 118, 119, 120 from Virtual Quilter

The first design makes me think of a spider web. Interesting.

The design above is interesting too.

I like the design above!

Another interesting design.

I like the last for this week too!

I love going to a quilt exhibition and seeing Log Cabin quilts, but am disappointed that almost all of them are replicas of age old designs … nothing new. My favourite Log Cabin designs include some of those age old designs, but I would love to see new designs too … some of them could added to my favourites.

Curved Cornerstones + 111.112, 113, 114, 115 from Virtual Quilter

Wow! A bit of a tangle.

Same blocks with a twist.

I like the one above.

Like the one above more than the one above it!

The last one is my favourite for the day, and this weeks Mid Week Log Cabin Retreat.

That is all for this weeks Mid Week quilter’s Log Cabin Retreat … more next week.

Cabin Fever 131, 132, 133, 134, 135 from Virtual Quilter

I like the first design for this week’s mini retreat.

Second is very interesting. The blocks in the centre could be changed many ways inside the dark frame.

I am not impressed by the third design … too busy.

Much more interesting.

Love the last for this week.

More Log Cabin quilt designs mid week next week.

If ever I run out of interesting things to do it would be interesting to go through this project file using a mixture of colours, particularly in the centre area of the designs. It would need to be a long break from the ...

Curved Cornerstones 71, 72, 73, 74, 75 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting. Very neat.

Wow! Anything but neat!

Small change, but it seems to be neater than the previous one.

A bit neater and tidier.

Different!

Curved Cornerstones 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting, and I like interesting designs.

Interesting again, but it looks like a spider’s web and have no desire to sleep under one of them!

The third design still has a slightly webbed look about it, but I like it.

The fourth one is ok but what happens if I give it a twist …

… not what I was expecting, but I like it!

Hope you enjoyed this week’s mid week retreat, and there will be another one mid week, next week.

Curved Cornerstones 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from Virtual Quilter

Lots of interesting curvy lines, all made with straight seams.

The centre part of this design made me think of a box which has split open at all four corners, showing a large diamond on the bottom!

I guess there is a similarity between these diamond shapes and the ones in jewellry in that they both have neat and tidy straight edges.

Now I see a large star without points on each side, though at least there are shapes resembling star in the centre.

Now the star has points!

Interesting! Courthouse steps, straight and curved, and sometimes the steps only go one way! (That might confuse the crook who is guilty as charged and tries to escape.)

I like the second one.

Another interesting one.

Every week I am amazed by the variety of ways Log Cabin blocks can be used.

I like the last design included in this week’s mid week retreat … but my favourite for today is the second one.

Curved Cornerstones 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting start to this weeks’ collection of Log Cabin designs.

Another interesting one.

Most interesting so far!

I think the one above is my favourite interesting one for the day.

Another interesting design.

Today’s collection of designs makes me wonder why a few Log Cabin quilt designs are copied over and over again. All it takes to find something different to change the design, and that is before you start playing with various Log Cabin style blocks.

That is all for this week’s Log Cabin retreat, but there will be more next week.

PS I will try to ...

Curved Cornerstones + 96, 97, 98, 99, 100 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of the week so time to spend a few minutes looking at Log Cabin quilt designs.

Like the first design.

Second one is interesting, but room for improvement …

… better, but still more room for improvement.

Getting better all the time!

I think that is about as far as I can go to improve this project file so the file will be placed in the filing cabinet for future reference if required, but will not be active in the foreseeable future.

Curved Cornerstones 46, 47, 48, 49, 50 from Virtual Quilter

My favourite for the day is the first.

I love playing with these blocks as it is always interesting to see what happens with the light coloured blocks with the curved lines of little squares or rectangles. With all light fabrics those squares would look like little banners tangled up in spider webs. Could work well with all dark fabrics with white … it might look like webs!

Very interesting …

…. better with a dark centre.

Dark centre works better in the second designs too!

That is all for this week … more Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Curved Cornerstones + 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of the week again, and life is returning to normal in my part of the world, and I haven’t finished digging up and replanting the garden, or sorting out all my EQ block library, or cutting out sashing to put a wall hanging together. But there is now a quilt retreat to look forward to in just over a month!

I liked the first one, but had to try changing the middle blocks on each side … like it more now.

Love the third design.

Like the next one too.

The last one is almost lacy!

That is all ...

Curved Cornerstones 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of yet another week, and even though we are not confined to home, we are staying here except for necessities. There is not much else to do anyway as pretty much everything on the calendar has been cancelled.

Curved Cornerstones was a result of me asking myself a question … What if Chimneys and Cornerstones got mixed up with Curved Log Cabin blocks?

The results are interesting!

I like the one above, but it needs a bit of dark in the centre, and so does the one above that!

If we have to stop socializing for long enough I may ...
